Romania on the Map of Major European Pet Food Producers – ALCONOR Reaches Record Capacity in Eastern Europe

ALCONOR, a 100% Romanian-owned company, marks a milestone for the regional pet food industry with the completion of its expanded dry pet food production capacity. The total value of the investment amounts to €21.7 million, of which €3.1 million represents state aid granted under Government Decision 807/2014, a scheme dedicated to supporting investments with a major economic impact. Through this expansion, the company has created 131 new jobs, directly contributing to regional economic development and to strengthening a sustainable industrial ecosystem.

At this moment, ALCONOR boasts the largest dry pet food production capacity in Eastern Europe.

Through this achievement, Romania strengthens its position on the European map of major pet food producers, while offering solid collaboration opportunities for brands and partners seeking manufacturing excellence, consistent quality, and large-scale delivery capabilities.

From Beverage Production Tradition to Rapid Expansion in the Pet Food Industry

Although Alconor is relatively new to pet food manufacturing, in just four years it has built a solid business foundation in this field, supported by steady growth. This evolution is backed by over 25 years of experience in beverage production, a sector in which the company has developed strong partnerships and demonstrated consistency, reliability, and respect for both clients and its operations.

The core values behind its previous success - operational rigor, professionalism, and commitment to quality - have been successfully transferred to the pet food sector, playing a decisive role in the company’s dynamic growth and positioning it as a trusted partner on the European market.

European-Level Industrial Performance

The Alconor factory spans a total built area of 10,000 sqm, distributed across six levels and equipped with multiple automated production and packaging lines. Annual production capacity reaches 217,000 tons, supported by modern technologies that enable the development of customized dry food recipes for dogs and cats. These recipes are created by nutrition specialists and veterinarians, in accordance with the highest safety and modern nutritional standards.

Another major competitive advantage of ALCONOR is its flexibility. The company can deliver products packaged in all market-available formats - from 200 grams to 25 kilograms - covering both retail and industrial segments, under its own brands as well as through white label/private label partnerships.

Strategic Expansion of Portfolio and Commercial Presence Across Europe

The new production capacity enables not only the development of external partnerships, but also the expansion of the product portfolio and the strengthening of proprietary brands. By optimizing production and packaging flows, Alconor will be able to launch new assortments tailored to current consumer demands, with a focus on functional nutrition, innovative recipes, and premium-quality ingredients.

At the same time, the investment supports improved nationwide logistics coverage and the expansion of the company’s presence on international markets, thanks to its ability to sustain large volumes and consistent deliveries to partners across Europe and beyond. A key factor in this regard is the factory’s strategic location, close to Romania’s western border.

Open to Strategic Partnerships

Through this investment, the company reaffirms its commitment to the sustainable and efficient development of the dry pet food segment, offering collaborators and business partners a solid, flexible growth platform tailored to the needs of each brand.
